While I’ve recently acquired some Blazers, those have mostly leather uppers. Now, I’ve come up on a couple of pairs of Nike Blazer Mid 77 Suede. The two colorways I grabbed are the Black/Photon Dust and Thunderstorm/Pure Platinum.
How Are The Materials?
The quality is inconsistent from pair to pair on the Nike Blazer Mid 77 Suede. Overall there is an acceptable level of craftsmanship, however pairs that are not marked premium will have unpredictable quality levels.
While the construction is the same on both pairs, the Thunderstorm colorway has way softer feeling suede. The quality is in actually probably about equivalent from pair to pair, but the black pair has a way rougher, more sandpaper-like suede while the blue pair even gives a color change on the backstroke. Neither are amazing materials-wise but the Thunderstorm colorway is superior in this category.
These come in the “vintage” lighter orange Nike box. The black pair ships with flat black laces while the blue pair utilizes grey. The vintage effect is applied to both via the exposed padding on the tongue and the suede materials. The Thunderstorm pair features a bit more of a yellowed midsole while the Photon Dust go with a pure white.
How Do The Nike Blazer Mid Fit?
The Nike Blazer Mid 77 Suede fit true to size, and a bit on the narrow side. Sizing up may grant more breathing room on width, but may be overly long.
So for me I stick with either my true size of a 9.5 or a 10 if the pair seems stiff. This is a very basic sneaker in terms of there being no technology in the midsole, yet there is still a decent level of comfort in these!
These are kind of binge cops from being on the blazer wave for a little while now. I’m happy with both pairs and I can see the black pair being more of a rugged beater pair, while the blue pair is the softer, nicer pair.
